OpenAI has no immediate plans to introduce advertising into its products, including ChatGPT and ChatGPT Search. While the company is open to exploring potential revenue streams in the future, its current focus remains on its existing business model.

OpenAI’s CFO, Sarah Friar, emphasized the company’s commitment to its current growth trajectory and the opportunities within its existing model. She acknowledged that advertising could be a potential revenue source but stressed that there are no active plans to pursue it at this time.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been vocal about his dislike for advertising, calling it a “momentary industry” and expressing concerns about the potential negative impact of AI-powered ads. He believes that a simple, user-centric business model, such as the one ChatGPT currently employs, is preferable to one that relies on advertising revenue.

While OpenAI may not be actively pursuing advertising now, it’s worth noting that the company has hired former advertising talent from Google, Meta, and other tech giants. This suggests that the company is at least considering the possibility of incorporating advertising into its products in the future.

As ChatGPT continues to gain popularity and attract a growing user base, it’s inevitable that advertisers will become interested in reaching this audience. However, OpenAI’s current stance is clear: advertising is not a priority, and the company is committed to maintaining a user-friendly experience without intrusive ads.
