The saga of shortnames has been going on for about two weeks now, which is a bug that caused Google My Business (GMB) listings to disappear when shortnames were added to accounts. According to Google the problem was resolved, saying that the missing listings were restored early last week, but it’s still there.
Some SEOs continued to report a problem ten days later. From the following tweet, it appears the issue is not fully resolved:
There are other local SEOs who said that the problem did appear to be resolved and haven’t heard about any continuing issues with adding shortnames.
Google is still saying that the issue is resolved, including the restoration of all related missing listings. Google has suggested that any current listings suspensions are probably the result of violations of GMB’s content and conduct policies.
