According to the third quarters earnings report this year for Facebook, it was shown that 49 percent of all ad revenues for the quarter were mobile. This is up from only 41 percent in Q2. Because of the mobile revenues that Facebook has enjoyed this quater, they’ve overtaken Microsoft and Yahoo to claim the number two spot.
Even though Facebook was forecast to continue lagging slightly behind Yahoo this year, the mobile ad business for Facebook has really helped it get ahead of Yahoo in this latest estimate.
According to eMarketer, Facebook’s improved market share was triggered by the company’s “continued stellar mobile performance, with the potential to open up new inventory via Instagram as well as the announcement to include video ads in the newsfeed.”
