We should all take a moment to bow our heads in silence, for another classic online service is coming to an end. Yahoo has announced that there will be several changes to its products and services, but one of the biggest surprises is that they will be shutting down Yahoo Maps at the end of this month. Yahoo Maps as had a great eight year run.
Yahoo has said
“The Yahoo Maps site will close at the end of June. We made this decision to better align resources to Yahoo’s priorities as our business has evolved since we first launched Yahoo Maps eight years ago.”
In some ways, it’s not totally surprising about this news, seeings how over the past few years, Yahoo has shown less effort to innovate their map service.
On the same note, Yahoo is also bringing to an end to Yahoo Pipes, which is a developer tool.
