YouTube Will Stop Sending Email Messages to Alert Channel Subscribers to New Content

Heads up YouTube managers, here’s some important news you might want to know. As of August 13th, your YouTube subscribers will longer be receiving an email notification from YouTube when you upload a new video.

The reasoning behind this change is because less than 0.1 percent of these emails are opened. Many people have stated that these email notifications are considered a bit spammy by some and are just filler to their inboxes.

“We didn’t see any impact to watch time when we experimented with turning off these emails. In fact, our tests showed that when we don’t send these emails, more people engage with mobile push notifications and their Subscriptions feed.”

Because the open rates are so low, YouTube feels that the impact of this change will be nominal.
